Back-End Web Developer (Freelance)

The Back-end Web Developer will plan, architect, and implement back-end code in C#.Net or VB.Net to power web applications. This involves all layers of an n-Tier web application, including data store, data access, business logic, presentation logic, and XHTML code.

Responsibilities

  • Develop web applications using SQL Server, Visual Studio, and Visual SourceSafe
  • Work closely with front-end developers to create web services that are easily consumed and posted to
  • Collaborate with front-end developers to create user controls or derive existing web controls that are functional and semantically marked-up
  • Develop web sites in their entirety when necessary, implementing semantic XHTML, CSS, and Javascript.
  • Assure that web applications are secure and not prone to cross-site scripting or malicious users
  • Write reusable base classes, or use existing base classes in new applications
  • Perform code audits and make efficiency and security recommendations
  • Make recommendations for database efficiency and security

Requirements

  • Expert knowledge of ASP.Net (either C#.Net or VB.Net, both a plus)
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL Server, including stored procedures, indexes, views, and performance tuning
  • Experience with various development methodologies, including test-driven development
  • Evangelist for best practices in n-Tier architecture
  • Experience with Visual Studio and Visual SourceSafe
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Javascript
  • Proven experience in cross-browser compatibility issues, semantic markup, web accessibility, and SEO
  • Strong organization skills including time and project management
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Ability to communicate complex functional and structural concepts
  • Additional web skills and OS X/Windows versatility knowledge a plus
